RISK ASSESSMENT UPGRADE

CHALLENGE:
  • Varying methodologies and conventions were being applied at stores;
  • Methodology and quality of risk assessments challenged by WorkCover;
  • General lack of understanding and hence application;
  • Unnecessary effort going in when common tasks and equipment meant well constructed risk assessments could apply to up to 200 locations.
ACTION:
  • Reviewed methodologies in use;
  • Facilitated agreement on a common model;
  • Created an inventory of risk assessments required versus competent risk assessments documented;
  • Created a 6 month project plan to complete an identified 250 risk assessments that had “common application across a number of stores;
  • Provided training in the methodology;
  • Resourced conduct, or facilitation and review, of these within timeframe.
RESULTS:
  • An agreed diligent methodology
  • Trained users
  • 250 competent risk assessments (for store customisation) that covered over 60% of tasks
  • A program for store review to customise as necessary
